Number of e-mail users worldwide to reach 1.6 billion in 2011, says Radicati Group

The number of e-mail users worldwide will grow from 1.2 billion in 2007 to 1.6 billion in 2011, at an average annual growth rate of 7 percent over the next four years, according to a Q3 2007 market update from Radicati Group. The study shows growth in the corporate e-mail and enterprise Instant Messaging communications sectors, as well.

The installed base of the Corporate E-mail Market is expected to increase from 393 million seats in 2007, to 569 million seats in 2011. Revenues in this market will grow from $2.7 billion to over $4 billion in the same timeframe.

The study shows steady growth in real-time communications as well. The installed base of the Enterprise Instant Messaging market will increase from 67 million in 2007, to 127 million in 2011. Revenue in this market will increase from $134 million in 2007, to $295 million in 2011.
